The Parylenes are a family of unique polymer coatings that offer superior barrier,
thermal, optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Parylenes are vapor
deposited in vacuum at room temperature, allowing the formation of transparent,
uniform, continuous conformal coatings on the most geometrically complex substrates.
In early 2001 Avicenna first developed the ability to selectively ablate Parylene
coatings, and has been successfully demonstrating this ability to coaters and
customers ever since. Avicenna is continually developing its Parylene ablation
methods to meet the evolving demands of the many industries that are now utilizing
these coatings.
Avicenna can ablate all members of the Parylene family (N, C, D, etc.) in all
thickness. Avicenna can remove Parylene from Tin, Gold, Nickel, Copper, Tungsten,
etc. without harming the delicate substrate. Furthermore, Avicenna can remove
Parylene from piece parts that range in size and shape from large printed circuit
boards to small electrical probes.
Avicenna's ability to perform precise selective ablation of Parylene helps coaters
and customers avoid manual masking and removal techniques that can add cost and
compromise part quality. Often Avicenna's laser ablation service is the only
feasible removal method for complex parts.
Avicenna works closely with the best Parylene coaters in North America and can
often secure developmental coating at little or no cost to our customers. In
this way Avicenna can help customers develop Parylene related projects from
inception to production.
