Avicenna has extensive experience handling spooled fine wire and has an entire fleet of automated wire handling systems for laser ablation. Avicenna's automated wire handling systems can precisely ablate wire as fine as 52AWG, and perform the ablation in either a continuous reel-to-reel process or in a pull and cut process.

LASER ABLATION OF WIRE & CABLE

Avicenna's pull and cut process ablation can be modified to incorporate precision wire twisting. Avicenna can take spooled single wire and twist it in multiple configurations, from a two-wire twisted pair to an eight-wire cable. The twist pitch attainable by Avicenna's machines is limited only by the strength and size of the wire. Avicenna can impart varying twist pitch along the length of a twisted wire section, allowing us to offer a lock twist feature for wire assemblies that are splayed and ablated. Avicenna can construct wire assemblies with splay and ablation sections located anywhere along the length of the assembly. Avicenna can also construct offset splay and ablation areas at the ends of wire assemblies if staggered wire termination is desired.

Strip Twist Polyurethane Wire

Avicenna's fine wire handling and ablation systems hold very tight tolerances, allowing Avicenna to offer extremely precise wire lengths and wire assemblies for all manner of medical and electrical applications. Avicenna's laser ablation process holds ablation length tolerances of 0.002". Avicenna's pull and cut process holds cut length tolerances of 0.010". Avicenna's twisting process holds twist length and splay length tolerances of 0.010".

Stripped Teflon Cable

Avicenna can ablate the coating from wire in any desired location. In a pull and cut process, this ability allows Avicenna to ablate coatings from lengths of multi-stranded cable while leaving a removable plug of coating on the very tips of the cable to prevent fraying. In a reel-to-reel process, this ability allows Avicenna to offer precisely located ablation sites at great intervals along the length of a wire spool. This feature give customers a precisely ablated spool of wire or cable ready for loading into automated processes such as coating, coiling, and bonding.
