AVICENNA TECHNOLOGY INC. LASER MARKS ETFE COATED CABLE
Montevideo, MN…Avicenna Technology Inc. (Avicenna), a leading provider of laser machining services to the medical device industry, has extended its ability to laser mark ETFE Teflon to the laser-stripped coated cable it supplies the neuro-stimulation device market.
In response to a challenge confronting device makers as they assemble neuro-stimulation leads consisting of many indistinguishable cables, Avicenna took on the task of laser marking the 0.007" diameter cable to help identify the manufacturer's discreet tab numbers.
In doing so, Avicenna applied its proven process for laser marking ETFE Teflon tube (a process that is unique in its ability to produce indelible marks of controlled depth and excellent surface quality) to the 0.001" thick ETFE Teflon coating that covers the MP35N silver core cable used in neuro-stimulation leads.
Due to the limited surface area of the coated cable, Avicenna was compelled to devise an identification system free of the alphanumeric text Avicenna normally employs. In place of text, Avicenna devised a system of laser marked dots corresponding to the respective tab number of the cable.
