Laser Marking Stainless Steel Guidewire
Montevideo, MN…Avicenna Technology Inc., a provider of laser machining services to the designers and manufacturers of life enhancing medical devices, has extended its laser marking capabilities beyond its traditional strength of marking silicones and Teflon. Avicenna now brings its unique laser machining approach to the discipline of marking depth bands on stainless steel guidewires.
Avicenna's stainless steel marking process results in a high contrast band with precise edges. More importantly, Avicenna's laser marking method exposes the steel to virtually no heat, which means there is no heat-affected-zone associated with its depth bands. Since a steel guidewire made weak or brittle by heat will not perform in the field, the benefits of Avicenna's marking service become all the more apparent.
Avicenna's custom automation can accommodate guidewires 150cm long and, when integrated with the appropriate laser beam delivery mechanics, can achieve marked depth bands of widths ranging from .25mm to 5mm.
