Laser Processing of Peek and Hytrel Tube

Montevideo, MN…Avicenna Technology Inc., a provider of laser machining services to the designers and manufacturers of life enhancing medical devices, has developed the ability to laser process PEEK and Hytrel tube.

Avicenna's newfound ability to process PEEK and Hytrel supplements its established ability to process another hard polymer: polyimide, and compliments it's processing of soft polymers such as Pellethane and Pebax.

Avicenna's tube processing methods employ the programmable combination of laser energy and multi-axis automation to produce clean precise machined features. Machined features range from the subtle to the dramatic: subtle tapers and stepped regions; dramatic hole-patterns and skived areas.

Avicenna's PEEK and Hytrel processing capabilities were developed in response to growing demand in the medical device marketplace for these materials in customized tube formats that enable assemblers and manufacturers to execute on advanced catheter and device concepts.
