AVICENNA TECHNOLOGY INC. ANNOUNCES TWO NEW CAPABILITIES 
Montevideo, MN…Avicenna Technology Inc. (Avicenna) a leading provider of laser machining services to the medical device industry has developed two new capabilities in direct response to customer demand. These new capabilities augment Avicenna's existing service offerings that include Fine Wire stripping, Parylene ablation, Teflon marking, and Polyimide skiving. Avicenna's new capabilities are the colorless laser machining of Polyether Urethane tubing, and the vivid laser marking of pigmented Silicone tubing. In both cases, Avicenna's services are significant improvements to the offerings previously available to the marketplace. Avicenna's new Polyether Urethane process can laser machine precise features in tubing with virtually no discoloration, thereby eliminating the need for subsequent cleaning or micro blasting. This is in distinct contrast to competing processes that produce a yellow residue when machining this material. Avicenna's new process to laser mark Silicone tubing produces dark, legible text that easily meets the standard viewing criteria of implantable device makers. Avicenna can achieve its vivid text marks without compromising the tube wall. Because Avicenna's laser marked labels are free of pinhole defects, they can be subjected to thermo-forming processes without risk of tears and blowouts.
